It’s been a while since I’ve done a blogspot post. Actually I’ve only done 2 in the past three months, I guess. Well lately (since early January) I’ve been really busy at my job and haven’t kept up on the blogosphere as I’d like to. Then February brought me into the thick of the KJVO Debate. That sapped my blogging time even more! (I’m still working thru a series on that issue, by the way).

Well, this week I’ve had more time, and I’ve stumbled into fantastic posts everywhere I turn. So…this post will have a lot of links! Hopefully you find a few that you hadn’t already seen. I try to bring attention to posts that not everyone in the conservative Christian Blogosphere has already seen. So I’ll quit now, and give you the links.

On the “Tomb” of Jesus

• Fred Butler has a great post which reveals how the guys behind the documentary claiming Jesus’ tomb was discovered really operate. He comments on their last documentary which concerned the 10 plagues and the Exodus.
• I did a brief post on that documentary too.

Egg Head Religion  

• “Regler Joe” of The Big Orange Truck, used a graphic worthy of Frank Centuri0n Turk, when he posted his thoughts on Calvinism and intellectualism. He  quoted Spurgeon  to the effect that Calvinism was being abandoned in his day to appeal to intellectuals. The comments are interesting over there as well. Go ahead,  take a spin in the Big Orange Truck!

On Preaching

• Ben Wright gives a great 150+ year old quote from Charles Bridges decrying the tendency of preachers to choose a message first and then the text. It’s a call for contextual, expositional preaching. Definitely worth the  quick read.

The Pride in Doctrinal Controversy (and Blog Wars)

• Tom Pryde at NeoFundamentalist gives a great paragraph-length quote  from John Piper on doctrinal controversy and humility. Great reading that’s worth pondering.

The Glory of God

• Tom Pryde says that’s what holiness is really all about. It’s about valuing and prizing God’s glory as a way of life.
• A while back, I posted some pictures and a powerpoint presentation that emphasized how vast the universe is. We see God’s glory and grandeur better when we contemplate our true place in this whole world. Well, I’ve got two more links for you. They both go a one step further than my original group of photos: video clip 1, and video clip 2.

On Worship

• Gage Browning looks a little closer at Lent, and fasting. Interesting discussion over there.
• Bob Kauflin  explores whether women should be worship leaders (HT: Thirsty Theologian). Bob always posts with so much grace on such sticky issues. This is worth a read.

Tolkien’s Teachings

• I love Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings. So this post title caught my eye: “Tolkien Tuesday: The Gospel and Our Hobbit-Like Peril“. It’s a great read, compliments of Eucatastrophe. (By the way, that blog will be posting an interview soon with a Tolkien expert, details here.)
• I likewise was surprised to stumble upon a second Tolkien post this week, when my friend “jamsco” (of The Responsible Puppet)  posted some of the many wise sayings Tolkien includes in his work.

Jamsco Scores Again & Again

• Jamsco has had some great posts this week. This one is a parable  on parenting. It has a poignant and well-communicated message. And it’s definitely worth the read.
• Then he posts regarding our 2nd Minneapolis Blizzard in as many weeks. Yea, 21.3 inches of snow (officially at the airport)  in a 7 day span, was really no big deal around here. Very few accidents, the city and state didn’t shut down. The only problem was the wind. [I posted re: the first 12 inch snowfall. We got close to 14 inches from the second storm!]

Finally

• If you haven’t already, you need to go check out the new and improved Monergism.com. It is arguably the largest conservative evangelical resource center on the web. And it centers on Reformed Theology. You can find articles or mp3s on almost any topic relating to Calvinism or Orthodox Christianity. And they have fun pages, like The Hall of Contemporary Reformers, too.
